Can someone explain to me why Royo is popular? I find his use of color so unbearably bland. I'm sure he's a nice guy and all and I'm glad some folks like him, but ugh!

Seeing some of Royo, Vallejo and Bell's work next to Frazetta's let's you really see just how amazing Frank is. Beautiful.

And man, this guy is probably breaking so many copyrights it ain't funny.

Yeah, especially the different 3D sections. I recognize tons of it from CGTalk. He's got so many it's pretty much a foregone conclusion he probably isn't asking permission. At least he's keeping the original credits and not saying he did it.

Royo is well known (not saying that he's popular or that his art is well liked), because of the erotic content. Some of his art is graphically over the top - e.g. hottie decapitating a male slave who's giving her cunnilingus.

There's definitely much better work on his site (as opposed to the crud that was on juggernaut). Some of his sketches are outstanding. Nice to see his work improving so much. Guess I need to check his newer stuff out!

Im not in the habit of bashing fellow artists.... but if he is so good, then why is that first picture in this thread so obviously lifted from the predator movie... its exactly the same a frame from the movie and it even looks like arnie :)....

I also think he has issues with multiple light sources in most of his artwork... there is no definitive light, thousands of specular highlights for no real reason.....

Of course Juggernaut do not see that scanning images from published books and republishing them on a website as a copyright violation or otherwise using anything without permission.

Hey how would everybody feel about all the images from the gallery here being copied over to a website for um..charity..yeah that's the ticket! We'll just assume you are okay with it and later if you have a problem you can complain? Sound fair? Please be sure to explain why it bothers you so that we can be judgemental about your reasons for wanting to control where your own work is shown.

Royo is notorious for lifting imagery and bascially adding his own whatever to it.. so it's no wonder that other people who take a pic from a fashion catalog and do a paintover also happen to be Royo fans.
