If the flame was smoother it would be perfect.
is that a polygonal object deforming? :)
what program?

Not bad, really, to do it without plugins...
There could be a second much bigger, but weaker glow, and a streak to enhance the idealistic look. :)
And the color(and opacity) distribution of the flame could be a bit better, the transition between the colors, and opacity is not a linear gradient, more like a round gradient always facing the camera. So you could work on that...
But really, only crit is that the candle itself looks wierd, like a cilynder with strong noise and a meshsmooth on it. (Really visible in the closeup... you can see radial lines along the edge) You may want to examine a candle, and reconsider the modelling concept.

For a still image its pretty good.. I would say what is up with that quick movement of the camera... it kinda kills the whole modd for the scene... anyway the flame is to... well I guess stiff... need to flow better.. almost like wind or dust in the wind... next time you grill be the one to start the flame.. preferabley charcoal grill and watch how the flame moves in the wind and when its not windy... you can learn alot from that.. I have been tring to work with fire also.. but it comes out way burnt than this.... but you did a really cool job... like the sub surface scattering... but really take a look at a charcoal grill or a camp fire sometime... it will help you out...

thank for the comments,
omnisicent: thank you very much
flow: every obj is an editable poly, prog is max5
aldaryn: i agree with you in all points. the glow was one of the mainproblems here. i wanted it to change color, intensity, .. in the animation. I fail everytime at the settings for distance blending at the glow, i can`t get real control over it, hopeyou know what i mean. maybe someone can help with a tut or something  ? the candle itself is of course a cylinder, i extruded some random polies and added a displace-mod with a very small smoke map. it took about 5 mins. so there was no real "modeling concept"
deathgoth: sorry for that cam movement. its just the beginning of a longer animation but i don`t wanted you to load big files for such a simple scene. i guess i know what you mean with the wind and the flame moving. its really too stiff. I`ll see what i can change.
thx you all again ...
