ALL RIGHT! Congratulations on getting it finished! That must have been a TON of rendering time, especially on the Ent! Looks great.
Any chance of rendering a 1600x1200 resolution version? :D

Very cool. The one thing that I might get your reel pulled and toss is the music. It might be a bit to loud for some of the people looking at it. And I would hate to see that. You have a solid reel. Good luck keep us updated. Are you in California by any chance.

I downloaded this with the expectation of seeing a drunk Floridian run around and act out scenes from Evil Dead, with zombie parts played by Pixar plush dolls. Instead I saw a big purple guy with a loin cloth.
Good work. :)

Great work as always Ian.
Your reel shows a lot of solid work displayed in a VERY sleek composition.
It would be cool if you showed just a bit of animation or something, like a simple walk cycle for the Rock Ent.
Good luck out there in the job market.

Hey Kingmob - I like the presentation of your reel and the soundtrack. So the comment about it being to loud is probably a good bit of advice.
If you could put a bit of animatin in there it would lift it alot. Are you looking for a job doing just modeling and textureing or are you interested in doing animating as well.
I like the demon u did, have'nt seen that before, I'd like to see him animated and angry.

I don't know if you'll ever see this post but here goes.
I think your work is fantastic. Your renders look good and models/textures are pretty clean.
But you need movement, dude. You have to show those models bending and stretching, etc.
you don't have to be a champion rigger/animator, but you have to show some movement in there.
That being said, congrats.

he made that reel really quickly... he got a heads up on an upcomming job and had to have a reel done within a few days so there was no time to rig and animate.. just attach to null spin.. render.. comp.. and let it out the door.

Wow, thanks for the reply's guys...
About the music, on the VHS i sent it doesnt seem so loud..maybe speakers are to cranked? or mine are to down, regardless, its something to keep in mind.
I agree, I wish they were dancing around to, but some are as of yet unfinished, the Demon is being rigged by a friend of minee (hi mike) and animated by another friend hopefully.
Right now my interest is mostly in modeling, and in deforming meshes correctly, next time ill show more motion as I go, as Martin, said, I really just didnt have time on this one.(hope its not to horrible)
I'm beat tho, thanks for all the support once again!

Well, kudos to you Kingmob, in no time and with "maya" you got great characters and got to be one of my character modelling references....
I wish you the best on the jobquest...
I´ll refreain of critizicing the reel other than saying you have a very good taste for designing it, all the non-3d elements of it are really well put together, i hope to get half of your succces with mine...

Quite the smooth reel KingMob.Your talent will open up all the doors to your dreams soon enough.Modeling, textures are all very well done to go with a very nice presenation that showcases your work in very nice form.
My only suggestions would be to add even more of your fine work, possibly a scene or set piece, another character or two//////Perhaps if you are interested a vessel or architecture set piece, just to add diversity.
But in any regard what you do have shows "Pro" level work and deserves recognition as such.I would wish you luck, but you don't need it.....................you already have talent, that's all you'll need.Very nice work........

This is great work indeed. Freakin' awesome.
Just some notes for making a modelling demo reel. A prospective employer is probably going to want to see close ups of your wireframe of vital areas of your mesh such as shoulders, pelvis, elbows and knees, to see how well you understand how to model a character to be rigged. Also some close ups of the faces wouldn't hurt, both textured and wireframed.
Learning rigging in all it's complexity will help you to understand the requirements of a model, because a beautiful model can fall apart if there is not enough detail or too much detail in vital areas. And seeing as how in a large production environment your model will be sent off to someone else to rig it pays to have experience of their challenges.
And one of the biggest things an employer might want to know is how quickly you can churn this high quality out. So a thing that states time taken for each phase (modelling, texturing) would probably go down a treat.
Please forgive me if you know all this already (you most likely do :) ) but I figured I should state it just in case.
You'll get hired, no worries.
Ian
