View Full Version : Rendering without anti-aliasing
RBriley 09-19-2003, 10:05 PM I need to render a character from 4.5 making sure it does not anti-alias to the background I'm using. I thought of using hardware rendering but the character needs to have a cast shadow.
Any ideas out there?

If using the normal Maya renderer, go into the Render Globals and set 'Edge Anti-Aliasing' to 'Low Quality'.
Or with Mental Ray, under the 'Sampling Quality' section set 'Min Samples' and 'Max Samples' to 0.
That seems to be as close as you can get for both renderers! I couldn't really get either of them to have absolutely none though...
:hmm:

You could render it in layers. Set your options to render selected items only, or put them in layers and turn things off.

I'll give those a try.
Thanks!
