View Full Version : baking Mental Ray lighting

Is it possible to bake Mental Ray lighting, final gather and all. So that all of the lighting in your scene could be a texture in a surface shader for instance? To save lots of rendering time with architectural renderings for example.

The image below is a sphere and plane lit be the default sun and sky setup. Can everything, including the shadows, color, final gather be baked into one simple texture map? I assume so, but I have had no luck so far. Batch Bake under Lighting and Shading seems to only give some shadow information, not accurate color and lighting.
