Victor Vinyals' reel was definitely your biggest reference ;-) Since you consider yourself as a 'rookie', there's no problem in the resemblance of your work with his, I guess. So now you've mastered the things you show on the demo (you have a nice reel there) you should go ahead and try to add a little more from your own.

One thing I noticed in the video: your model looks quite similar to John Doublestein's mesh for 'andyRig'. If you did use it, it would be nice to mention it on the reel. And if that's the case and if someone does not know John's work it could be thought you did the modelling of that character.

Good job ;)

Congrats for you work, nice stuff, but yeah, disturbing resemblance with the Andy rig... at first I was like... what? Did the guy just use the Andy rig on his reel? :P I'd advise you, in the future, to try to rig models that, ideally, haven't been rigged before. Maybe make friends with some modelers and offer to rig their models. Basically, a good looking model will help you getting good looking deformations and a good looking presentation :) And people want to see original stuff, of course.

Nice reel 'Chinese guy' !
And welcome to CGTalk.

Here are my comments:

- a visual 'drawing line' from the limb to its upvector CTRL would be great because it makes more clear 'where is the control' in the 3D world space, 'how far from the limb' it is and also keep things easy when working.

- why the face GUI has the entire body as background ?

- the blur/fade that present features is quite odd, maybe you could do that more interesting. for example: Wouldn´t be better a simple lettering on bottom rather than sttoping the show every time by putting it in the middle of the screen ?

hope that helps,
seeya
