Hey everyone,
currently I'm working on my final thesis for a media technology degree.
It's a project based work, done in Maya 2010. (The degree program reveals that I didn't work sooo much with Maya before. Two years with a lot of interruptions)
The final product will be a picture book (without text).
It will be cartoony, but serious. The texturing and shading should look similar to Pixars short film "One man show" (hope I'm able to do something like this, as it has a very high hand drawn quality)
First I'd love to get some critiques for my two characters. I attached some snapshots. There is no texuring or shading yet. I just rigged the characters.
Character 1: Brighella

The Story
The picture book is telling a short story about two men. The one of them (called Pantalone) is a hard working guy in a industrialized land/ world. The other one (Brighella) lives the life of primitive people. Pantalone is coming home from work, very stressed and continuing work at home. He has just time to order some food (a "fresh mango") from his versatile kitchen machine. While Pantalone needs a headache tablet for being able to work on, you keep track of the production pipeline of the mango. A huge vacuum cleaner like machine is tearing off the mangos from the tree. Then the mangos are rudely processed until they land in a tin with 50% sirup. Arrived at Pantalone's home the kitchen machine opens the tin, snots the content of the can onto a plate and purees it. Halfhearted Pantalone starts to eat his dinner. During the whole process Brighella walks up the hill to the mango tree. Arrived at the tree he picks up a mango, which the vacuum cleaner teared off. He peels it and enjoys the sunset and the view over the wide natural landscape while he eats the real fresh mango next to the tree.
