Am I to understand that you could also achieve the same effect in 3dsmax by building looping splines around and around and around each other, making them renderable, and then applying a suitable shader?

Yep very very good work.

I've never heard of this 'Maya Master' title before. Is it an official Alias thing or a Siggraph thing or what? Only wondering because it'd be nice to see the work of the other Maya Masters.

Cool! Thanks Dan and Leo big time for doing this interview, and thanks much for the nice comments.

It's funny how life always evens things out for me - just when I was feeling great, all sorts of junk happens that puts me in check. Last week someone backed into my motorcycle and knocked it over and then I went hiking and came back with a bad case of poison oak. It's all over my body and it makes it hard to live in my skin. I will never go hiking again ;)

This picture will even out the one that was used in the interview :)

Ouch! Nice work on the poison oak!

Congratulations on winning the Maya master's award. I've been a fan of your work for some time. You've inspired me to take my knowlege of 3d art further.

Thanks,
Kiaran

Hey Meats,

Well deserved 'Maya Masters' award an accolade for sure.
I get the impression that your next work might include poisonous oak then heh!

When something good happens slap yourself in the face and keep the balance under control ;)
