View Full Version : Normal pass from Fluid ?
Ptichat 06-18-2010, 12:11 PM I am trying to got a normal pass form a fluid in Maya.
The preset from Maya 2008 is rendering the bounding box instead of the fluid.
I also tried to plug the mibAmbOcc in the color or incandescance of the texture fluid but it doesn't give the blue channel.
Last attempt was to create 3 directionnal lights which almost work but I keep a shading on top of the rgb lights...
Any idea ?

you can try convert fluid to polygons to get normal or p pass from the fluid voxels
its not the best workaround but perhaps its works

using a fluid to polygon conversion is not very accurate , like on the edges of the shapes of the fluid ,not sure it would be a good solution , will give a try
The 3 lights aproach will give you the normal pass for fluids (smoke...), there is no better solution.

Thx for that, it was my first clue.
I keep a lot of shading with that method, I mean I don't have plain RGB. Any cidea ?
