Hi Lads and Lasses
here (http://www.kidwars.com/demodvd.mov) is a demo-reel for my soon-to-be-available Image Based Lighting toolkit (for Max).
I'd like your comments on it. Things to note:
1. I made none of the models, rigged none of the characters, and all animation is STOCK MOCAP slapped on (hence the wierd ankle angle on the droid, the flabby arms on Jar Jar when he moves, and whatnot)
2. NO standard max lights are used anywhere with one exception: In a few scenes, one light is used to add a shadow to the ground plane. This light is excluded from illuminating the actual model.
3. I.e. ALL LIGHTING and ALL SHADING is done by my "image based lighting with occlusion mapping" toolkit. None of max standard shading or lighting is used at all.
4. In a production environment, small further tweaks would be made to the footage, and perhaps extra lights used to compensate from the fact that the image based lighting is NOT using (in these exampels) HDRI images but plain LDRI images. This is the un-tweaked result. Imagine the tweaked ;)
Alas... comments... would be nice.
