View Full Version : WIP castle in 3D max***
digitalGannon 09-19-2003, 07:12 AM Ok, this is my first post on CGTALK:applause: I am currently working on a 3D castle I sketched awhile ago. From the shots below you can see its about 5-10% done. Comments and suggestions are welcome. You can find the sketch on my website as well under the "2D link" at: http"//www.digitalgannon.com.

Looks alright!
Maybe add some difference to the towers. They look now as complete "clones".

Yea, it can be done while texturing, but I prefer adding them with modelling :D

I think the tiles on the roof are way too big...
Or is it meant to look like a toy-castle?
No offence meant, but to me the details are making it look like a very small one.

good call on the tiles, i will change that right away, sam to thing goes for the towers, though i added the balcony on the side, and i do want to keep them fairly uniform. Thanx again- please keep the comments comming- NEW pics will be up tonight.:scream:

Alittle more I added today. I scaled down the roof from another persons suggestion, as well as added a roof to other parts. The stairs and side room are new as well as the lamps, but early in modeling, i am trying to lay everything out.

I think its coming along nicely...
But I think you should raise the polys depending on whether your planning to model with a low poly count or a high one... I would strongly suggest that the stair case be nicely rounded out as i can clearly see the jaged egdes... and the little wheel on one of the towers is also very square along with the bell roof on the towers... believe me small details like these make a big difference...
But i really like your top floor along with the fence surrounding it... I cant wait to see the whole thing textured... I'm sure it will look very good!
Keep it up:buttrock:

Coming along very nicely, I still think the stairs are a bit to high in comparison with your door. But I'm not sure how your going to texture it. If your going for the real old style castle look then huge steps are accaptable. They used big blocks of stone.

Good job. Looks sexy. What do you use to render? I always see that 'look' and never know what it is.. is that 'brazil' render?
Thanks for a response to that ^ and good job :D
