hey,
i downloaded a script for making trees.
i need to ask how to make it work...hahahaha

im seriouse...i can never figure out how to make a script into a desktop icon, much less making it work at all.
i unpacked it then i opened the script in the script editor, but then what???
do i execute it?
do i save it or just drag it to the toolbar??
ahhhhhhhh!

p.s. forgive my ignorance, but i was one of those painters who never touched a computer until about 4 years ago when i decided to take up maya.

do you mean the treeGenerator?
all you have to do is typing makeTree; in the command line.

when executing scripts or sourceing scripts, usually the Info txt file that comes with it, explain how to use it.

if sourcing a script open scriptEditor>file>sourceScript, find the script and open.

other way of execute scripts is, open script editor,>file>open script,,open it, then>script>execute,,

when all this and that is done, type the name of the script in the command Line,, not alway clear what you sholud type but usually the text in the mel file exlaining this to you,.

example: makeTree;

highlight the text and MiddleMouse drag it to the shelf. thats it!

you got the make tree type makeTree in the command line and drag the name in the shelf thats it and for the icon put it C:\AW\Maya4.0\extras\icons and you must do your icon in 32*32 pixel always check the name of the script this is wht you must type
