Hey,

I'm thinking of writing a camera matching application. Do you guys know any C or C++ libraries out there that would be useful? Particularly with the reading and writing of video files.

Thanks,
Victor

Yes, the Intel IPP. I use the 4.0 beta version, and it's a sweet library. Version 3.0 costs $199 though, and well worth every penny.

Read more about it here.
http://developer.intel.com/software/products/perflib/

and order here.

You can also enroll to beta test the 4.0 version by registering on their site. Do that here.

and choose Intel® Premier Support to download the beta version.

Thanks for the info! I think I'll check out the 4.0 beta as I don't have $199 to spend at the moment.

Theres also the new and free OpenML API. Let me reimphesize the new part though. An initial release was made at Siggraph with another one set in the next couple of months. It has some real promise but I'm still waiting for the full release for W2K. Theres enough there to get started and playing though. Heres the website.

I'm not sure what you mean by "camera matching application" (can you elaborate?) but DirectShow (http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/directx9_c/directx/htm/directshow.asp) may be exactly what you're looking for.

Hmm... OpenML sounds more along my price range :) thanks.

By "camera matching application" I mean a program that takes video and outputs the 3d camera movement. Most likely to maya.

Another library worth looking at is DevIL (Developers Image Library). This used to be called OpenIL until SGI forced them to change the name of the project. http://openil.sourceforge.net/
