View Full Version : tongue movement
bobtronic 09-19-2003, 12:16 AM Hi there,
I want to add a tongue to one of my characters and animate
it. Now I don't know what method is best for the movement.
I thought of a simple rig (2-3 bones) or morphing.
What are your experiences?
thanks in advance, Bob

er tounge movement?
this thread might be deleted too by the might lil d for having a sexual title lol.
you might be able to do it with jsut an anchor bone and only one that actually moves.
Just becuase there isn't a huge amount of normal tounge movement anyway.
I thought of a simple rig (2-3 bones) or morphing.
I would use a combination. Model the tongue as if it's stick out and rig that one. Two morph targets ...one the same length but flat and broad and one short, only changing the lenght.
Then if there still shapes you can't make, create another morph target for it.
Success,

I like that, Bunk.
I currently am just morphing a simple tongue on a character but have found that I am having to create more poses than I really should. Having bones and those few differences in the shape of the tongue would be much more versatile. Thanks

Thank you Bunk
I thought also that a combination of rig and morphing
is best. It seems that there are not many animations
with lipsync and tongue movement are made with C4D.
Wesware: I see you started with CA again, cool. I think
the little character in your avatar is perfect for learning.
cheers, Bob
