Final Fantasy X-2 hit the streets of Japan on March 13, 2003, but North American gamers will have to wait until early December before getting their official turn in the short shorts.

We were fortunate enough to play through a good deal of the localization-in-progress English version of Final Fantasy X-2, so read on to learn all about the first real Final Fantasy sequel. >>link<< (http://firingsquad.gamers.com/games/final_fantasy_x-2_preview/)

Does anyone else find the title of this series growing more and more paradoxal by the instlment? :)

Anyway, cool of Square Enix to create a title thatīll help us survive the drought until FF12 arrives, even if they basically followed the Tomb Raider route and just rehashed FFXīs original engine :) .
Looking forward to it :)

God, why did you have to go and REMIND me?!! I'd almost forgotten this monstrosity existed, much less that it was COMING, now I have to go purge my brain again! :scream:

Aw, cīmon!

It canīt be THAT bad, I mean it IS Square enix weīre talking here; they have standards to meet.

Say it with me:

"Itīs gonna be great. Itīs gonna be great! Itīs gonna be GREAT!"

I'll quote the a review at GameFAQs...
''The whole story rings of a ''girls night out adventure,'' or ''Final Fantasy meets Britney Spears' Crossroads.''

Doesn't that worry anyone? FF8 and now this? Tragic. FF9 was the last one that actually felt like the old days... FFX wasn't bad, but could they PLEASE quit giving us anime stereotypes for main characters. I want to hunt behemoths in dungeons with Ultima at the tip of my tongue, not watch japanese teen soap operas and share their first date frustrations.

Some of that looks pretty cool...

Some of that looks pretty cool...

... which is part of the problem: The visuals are absolutely stunning.
But that doesn't make up for the lack in gameplay in the more recent installments of the series...

I mean really, have you ever been disappointed in a FF game??? seriously now, square has been doing this for god knows how long, they have all the right elements and know exactly how to make a game that immerses you and keeps you coming back for more, so trust me, there's no way that this even has a remote chance of sucking...but like anything we can only speculate til we actually play it :)

Nah no need to worry. FFXII is made by the same who made Vagrant Story/FF Tactics. It is bound to be awsome, while this FFX-2 is just a quick money-making scheme. The art is great as always anyway.

I think it looks great. Have a lot of improvements from X. The jobs, and non linear system. the linear plot was a shame, but the sphere system was great. I enjoyed that a lot.

My favourite FF:

FF VI
FF IX
FF III

in that order.

The worse: FF VII. That was horrible! But a lot of people started the FF saga with that.

Completely agree with Kefka... errr. Phil.

Now THERE's someone who knows FF. Throw FFIV in there and you've got the summation of the series.

Absolutely. FFIV was amazing. Should be in the list because is even better than FFIII... The story very different and the characters very interesting. V was also fantastic, specially a lot of fun to level up the different jobs of the characters and see the sprites with different clothes and that :D:D

Well, no, but then again they've never converted perfectly decent characters into walking talking Christina Aguilera videos, either.

Have you SEEN the preview??!

dude they're not giving you anything, that's just RPG japanese style. their main target is japanese, not westerners, and japanese love their drama and their digital idols. FFX-2 is probably an experiment to get more female teens to play their game.

if u don't like it, there's plenty of western style RPGs like Neverwinter Night etc etc where u can modify the look of ur main characters and have them hack/slash/magic their way through a dungeon.

Except without the artistic flair that Square games have. American-made RPGs are full of skeletons and goblins:p

FINAL fantasy doesnt mean the LAST fantasy, its more like...umm, REAL/GREATEST...or whatever fantasy :) it would have been LAST, then yes, it would have been quite silly, since there are like 15 FF games out there :)

not to mention the crappy PAL conversions...i mean geez! we only have 24fps! and one of my friends have US-FF7, and another has PAL-FF7 and the US version is about 30% faster then the PAL version...which means you'll complete the game 15hrs faster in the american version...du-uh!! it also means that Clouds omnislash much slower...blah! and that you have much more time to hit the right spot in slot machine limit-breaks/overdrives and so on :) thats something good anyways...:)
not to mention Devil may cry!! whee, is it slow or what? Dant runs like a snail or something! until he gets speed heart, then he is as fast as a cat without legs, and has to roll sideways to get anywhere....tsk!

RISKBREAKER

not really a matter of slowness when you say 24 fps to 30 fps...its more like 30 fps plays smoother than 24 fps.

ff12 from the creators of vagrant story!? arrg...now im overly anxious for this to come:annoyed: .....

and in this for once...im with eliseu....lets not get into the ff war............again.........:shame:

Radacci

yes it runs smoother :) and faster too.
umm, all final fantasy games are from the makers of vagrant story arn't they? they are all from square :)

well i look forward to all new games from square :)

And I quote from the article:

"Other major additions to battling are Dresspheres and Garment Grids. Yes, it’s definitely a girl thang when you get to play dress-up in the middle of a fight. "

Ummm... yeah.

I find FFX-2 dissapointing by the sound of things and by the look of things.

Sure square has always been on the money when it comes to graphics, environment, music, etc etc, but their game play has been going down hill since ff8.

I prefer the rich story of ff II, III, VII, and tactics.
Unfortunately if they are coming out with a FFXII, then it will most likely be on ps3 in 2005.

Your probably right on that one. Im not a game programmer.

umm, all final fantasy games are from the makers of vagrant story arn't they? they are all from square

I had the impression they had different people (within Square) working on different projects (ie a ff installment).
