View Full Version : Bump texture for flowing river?

Hi,

I need to model a landscape with a flowing river. It's a still (for now) with birdseye perspective.
The river is heavy meandering/winding so I need to have a bump texture that follows the stream. What would be the best way to accomplish this? Is there a splinebased solution maybe? Or do I need to draw the bump by hand? I don't have Realflow so that won't help much.

Thanks!

If you use a sweep to create your river, the bump will meandor with the river. Getting the profile right might be a pain. But is should give you the desired effect.

Just animate the water texture in bump along spline.
Don't forget the reflection for the sky and the brown
bottom under water

animate preview is under the illumination tab for 9.6
Along spline, lol, meant to extrude the water shape along a spline.
Also mapping the tex as UVW will make the tex follow the spline.

ok I see. Thanks again.
Will give the options a try.

Oh, just one more thing, If you add displacement, it'll give the water some action
and increase render times dramatically. All this is coming back to me as I did that test
back in '06 or so.
