View Full Version : My Max keeps Freezing.
Chong 05-25-2002, 09:07 PM I couldn't find this in another thread so I'm asking it in a new one. I just installed XP on my machine and now whenever I'm in Max it keeps freezing. Wether I'm using biped or bones or just modelling it freezes every few minutes. Has anyone seen this before? I have Max 4.26 installed. I'd really appreciate any help you guys can give. Thanks.

First of all 3ds max is not officially supported in Windows XP. I think you can definitely get it to work. But you may be stumbling into some technical issue that will be hard to tackle until 3ds max is officially supported in Windows XP.
Did you install the latest c-dilla drivers for Windows XP? As far as I know, you definitely need these.
Also, with a crash occuring with such frequency I would strongly suspect the video drivers (if its not the c-dilla drivers). Try running 3ds max in software Heidi driver mode to see if the problem goes away. If it does then you have isolated it to a video driver related problem. And proceed to figure it out from there (i.e. check video bios settings, motherboard, other drivers, etc.)
If neither of these steps do anything, post some more info about your hardware and confguration, especially your video configuration.
cheers
