I'm having problems running maya 5 with mental ray. Ones installed it will crash on startup, but when I delete or rename the mental ray directory it starts up just fine, but without mental ray ofcourse. The same thing happens when I startup softimage EXP, and I guess it must be the same problem since both use mental ray.
So far I've tried the latest nVIDIA and ASUS drives plus some of the older ones till 43.45. Updated directX and updated win XP without any results.
Tried this all on a:
pentium 4 2.60
1 g ram
ASUS geforce FX 5600
running win xp home edition
Anyone had this before and know how to fix it? Or give me any clues on what to try out next.
