View Full Version : New Comuter, What to buy?

hey there everyone,

i derperately need a neew computer and i wanted to get soem feedback and advice on the hardware i am planing to buy.

since i am a student i don't have a whole lot of money so keepin the price as low as possible is my no.1 priority. i like playing videogames every now and then but 3d work comes before gaming.

mainly i work as a modeler but i wanna get a little deeper into lighting and animation.

so priorities are:
price
work
gaming

and here the setup a friend of min put together (my hardware knowledge is... limited):

Mainboard: SAM3 Gigabyte 870A-UD3 GSAF3e 4D3 FSB2600 870

CPU: AMD64X6 SAM3 PhenomII 1055TBOX 6x 512KB 6x2,8Ghz

Graphics Card: Radeon HD 5750 - Grafikkarte - Radeon HD 5750

Memory: DDR3 8192MB 4x2 PC1333 G.Skill RipJaws CL9-9-9-24

Hard Drive: SATAII 500GB WD Caviar Blue WD5000AAKS 16MB 7200 U/MIN (x2)

Monitor: BenQ G2220HD 22" (x2)

including the case, power supply, dvd drive it s about 1000 Euros about 1200$

Looks like a nice setup, though I'd change a few small things. Go with Crucial, Corsair, Kingston, or whatever other memory supplier. I've always had horrible luck with G.Skill memory and their support is rubbish. The 500GB disk is pretty small, for not much more you could get 1.5TB. Cheers!

I know the harddrive is rather small but I have a 1 TB external one and if i should need more space I can still buy an additional one.
And I ll check for some different memory.
