i was very happy to find out painter classic came free with my wacom volito, but after starting i have no idea how to since a manual is missing. So i have a couple of questions like:

Do layers exist in this early painter version ? and how do i create/find them ?

If i select a pencil or brush or something, and i try to paint with that triangle looking cursor, the paint always comes on the canvas another place than where i put my pencil.

Hi,

There are two Painter Classic versions: Painter Classic 1 which does not have Layers and Painter Classic 2 which does have Layers, Water Color Layers, and Liquid Ink Layers.

Neither Painter Classic 1 nor Painter Classic 2 is an "early Painter version". They are both limited applications that contain only a small number of brushes and other features found in full Painter versions. I think of them as appetizers to get people interested in buying a full Painter version.

Painter Classic 1 was based on the full version, Painter 5 and uses the old Water Colors, simplistic as Painter Developer John Derry calls them.

Painter Classic 2 was based on Painter 7 and uses the new Water Color technology.

You'll know if you have Layers by looking in the Objects palette in Painter Classic 1 or Art Materials Palette in Painter Classic 2.

If you have dual monitors, that may be why your cursor and brushstroke aren't in the same location. I don't know if there's a fix for this using Painter Classic but suggest that you contact Wacom tech support to find out. It's free, and they're very nice folks.

Good luck.
