the docs say. it should be used with sun/sky..but where?

this is MR nodes for XSI ,this nodes in Maya did not show maybe .

Yes, I read the docs
I'm using Maya.. my question is how to connect it in the shading network
I tried putting it just as Environment, but none of the values has any effect on the render

did you find this Node in Maya mentalray hypershade windows?

if you set the skylumninance mode to 2 then you are using the mia_ciesky shading model.

From my understanding you can't change color with that shading model
here is a quote from the mr manual.

CIE Sky model

The CIE sky model is a standard model utilized in lighting analysis. It is a colorless (grayscale) model, and is hence not suitable for making "nice images", but it has the advantage of following a standardized (known) luminance distribution.
