View Full Version : image planes

I have, what I think should be, a simple question about image planes. I'm putting in an image plane to model over. My problem is that it's really white, so I dimmed it down in Maya. I forgot the slider name because I'm not using the program right now. It is the right one though (the white one at the top). Anyway...The image does get dimmed for that view, such as if I put the image on the front view, it is dimmed on the front view. When I jump to the perspective view the image is NOT dimmed.

I know that if I dim it in some external program (ie photoshop) it will be darkened in both. I am wondering if there is a way, or reason why it's doing that in maya. Is it a bug, something done intentionaly by Alias, or something wrong just with my version.

Thanks.

If you would dimm the COLOR GAIN of an image, it should have effect in each viewport.

That was it galactor. It was the color gain that I was changing. I just checked it to make sure also. I have maya 5 also (it that makes a difference). When I had 4.5 I think it changed in all views as it should have.

Could there be another setting that may make a difference?

By the way, thanks for the reply.

On my PC it acts normal. I only get the effect you mentioned when i dimm the ALPHA GAIN. Then the image plane gets transparent in the front view, but it seems to have no effect when i look through perspective camera.
