View Full Version : Depth Pass for Particles

I have a particle system with instanced geometry, attached to them. I am trying to render out the depth pass for it but the render screen is completely black as if no geometry was present. Is it at all possible to render a depth pass for a particle system?

Any way you can create simple surfase shader with B&W ramp projected so that near instanses appear white, far- black. Render with any engine.

But i guess u can get depth chennal with mental ray path system.(render globals>passes tab)

I managed to solve it by rendering with mental ray which is odd considering I was using the preset which is set to maya software render. But i like very much the idea of the ramp! I'll keep it in mind for the future. Thanks
