Greetings skilled and talented artists of the internet, I am FunkTheMonk, leader of a mod team thats looking for modellers, animators and skinners to work on the first SAVAGE: Battle For Newerth mod.
For those of you have havent heard of Savage, check out www.s2games.com its a new game that blends RTS and FPS together (creating FPSS- first person strategy shooter) seemlessly in a multiplayer enviroment (kinda like the marines in HLs mod NS).
The mod itself brances off from the game with a whole new setting and 2 new nations with a completely different reason for wanting to destroy each other. Along with 2 distrinctively different tech trees the mod boasts extra features, listed are a few:
*Advanced Melee. Taking savages melee into light a few of us decided that focusing on melee and improving it to a complex state of combo attacks, counter thrusts, parrys and dodges (to name a few of the technices planned for the melee system) could prove to be most fun. The main weaponry will consist of different melee weapons, with a few ranged weapons thrown in (literally)
*Armour and shields. The purchasing of advanced armour and effective shields will mean players will have to manage their funds alot more carefully if they want all the good stuff.
*Campaign mode. To support those fans who like a bit of persistancy, you'll be able to start a series of games that will be played out to determine the winner (and losser) of the war.
*Event Trigger System. This is something that our coders and concept designers are very keen about. Allowing triggers like those in wc3 for example give the mod an extra edge of modability.
*AI warriors. These lean mean computer controlled fighting machines are designed to follow each player, creating a small 'squad' for each player to command and (s)he sees fit. With their own fighting tactics, formations and improved pathfinding they should be a formidable force.
The guys at S2games (the devs) are a small team (my team is actually larger then theirs...) of experts, and even whilst getting the game ready to go gold they were helping my modders out with all their problems.
