CGTalk - particles problem

I have a sphere flying around... as it does so its creating particles behind it leaving a long line...

At one point the sphere enters a moving vehicle through the window and then exits flying off.
I want the line that the sphere leaves behind to move with the vehicle after the sphere has left it.

how do i manipulate the line of particles that remains static in the particular area i want?

i guess its as though the line is elastic?

Put two deflectors on the windows, so you can separate the particles inside the car. Then send them to a new event that has 'speed by icon' and parent the icon to the car's rig in the appropriate way :)
