Very nice character and concept. I guess I'm the only one who thinks the water pistol looks a bit too clean, and sterile when compared to his suit, and everything else. Good stuff, though.

The ray gun feels too shiny and new compared to the rest of the scene. Everything has a dirty feel and a muted color palette except for the gun which is the most vibrant in color and totally clean. It just sticks out too much I think. Everything else is great.

About the gun, I must say that the contrast was intetional to make it looks out of place. I thought this would give some humor for the scene. I am enjoing to read different opinion about that gun, and I think very interesting how some people like it and some other no so much about the exact same thing.

I witnessed the entire creation process of this project that was almost shelved. I have to admit that the key color you chose was better than that what I had suggested. For a brief moment thought you were delaying the completion of this illustration hehehehe But you went up to the end and surprised me this weekend. Top nouch again!

Brave but too silly thinking that he can threaten with a water pistol any danger he could find. LoL... well who knows, maybe his watergun is full of "toxic sewer water".
About the gun being too clean, maybe a small scratch here and there would have helped. But on second thought, I think you were right to leave it like that, as it kind of "adds" to the "joke/not to be taken too seriously" feeling that results from combining the Fishman grim face& attitude with the silly toy water gun.

Execution is very nice, though the humor in the image isn't present without your explanation that this is a water gun. Could be anything from a laser to an acid gun. And even then it isn't really funny. So, execution: well done, conception: not really present.

I really like how you play with depth and dark at the front and light at the back, lovely concept and placed in a scene where it seems possible to find a fishman.
There is only one thing that doesn't " fit" imo and that is the big orange toy gun :) I would make it in the same colorscheme as the scene with a greenish tint, maybe a harpoon ( would be a nice contradiction a fish shooting a harpoon ;) )
