View Full Version : [HELP] Symmetry modifier - Mirror my car

Hi, I've been struggling about this issue for a while now, and I think I'm about going berserk at anytime soon. I figured I register on this forums and hopefully get my issues sorted out.

So, I'm trying to mirror my car using the Symmetry modifier. I've done this earlier on other projects, but this one seems to not like me. When I mirror every part that I'm gonna have on the other side of the halved car, they get all black and some artifacts at some places. I seriously have no idea what's going on, so I appreciate any help that you could come up with.

I'll provide you guys some screenshots to make it easier to understand my problem here.

Just so you know, the right side of the car's parts are the original ones.

As you see, one of the the mirrored part is blacked out (this is just one element), and where the halves meet each other, artifacts looking things appear.

Here's the Front view. The left part of the front hood has graphical errors too. Not to mention that the Lamborghini badge in the center bottom only shows the right side of it (the original part).

Here's a wireframe image. As you can see, the edges are identical to the original part on the mirrored one.

And a closer look on the Lamborghini badge. The edges are as mentioned earlier identical, so why doesn't it look the same without wireframe?

I don't know what I've done wrong, so I really need you professional modelers' help :rolleyes:

Sorry, right after I posted this thread I figured it out. It was caused by normal explicits being enabled in TurboSmooth on my front hood and the body part. Thanks anyway.

which program are u using?
also try to adjust the pivot, i can see that it offset

I'm using 3Ds Max 2010 x64. But doesn't matter now, got it to work and most of the car is finish. Will post a new thread for some previews of how it looks like at the moment :)
