View Full Version : transform one object into another object?
Hi wonderful people of the cinema 4d forum!
Yes im serious, i know it may be the dumbest question there is, but still!
What i want is to morph my own (modeled) head to another head.
Personally i dont think its possible, but im not exactly the cinema 4d expert myself, so i thought id ask!
tnx loads in advance! :)

everything is possible...and i'll wait to see now what the answer is.:p
i would have thought there were a few ways...
er I suppose if you just use connect to make them one object.
And then use them as seperate morph poses it might be possiible
However I really don't know.

hmm... really this sort of thing is done better in post to be honest, there are ways to morph things in cinema but they require the same number of points in the objects (for instance posemixer, or the morph track).

tweener?
yea I suppose if you just did two renders and then used a video editor to do it it would be alright.

There's a free app called WinMorph that could do something like that as a pure 2D post-op. I played with it a bit once, and it's actually pretty capable. Google it and try!

also what about xpresso? (blurp can make things come apart..could you re assemble into another object with same polys?)
anybody..just thinking out loud
or three head topologies.
start head
transition head (characteristic of each head..)
final head.

This forum has an tut on using pblurp to morph, you need to join as a memeber than have a look for the pblurp tutorial in xpreosso tuts

pblurp is great and *very* simple. You don't need same number of points or polys. However, because it fragments the original before forming the second, it may not be what you're looking for as a morph. Still, I recommend you take a look at it, as you may be able to tweak it to do something like what you're looking for. And really, it's just a lot of fun to watch it go... :p

not really helpful, but I guess if you use the spherize modifier, you could make the first head transform into a sphere, switch to the other model, already spherized and then reduce the effect to end up with the second model - ie
head1 > head1 spherized > head2 spherized > head2
obviously you would have to do something clever with the textures, but I guess you can use two textures and animate the alpha of the top texture to appear on top the the first.
This would probably look awful but you never know.

See the xpresso morphing examples here :

Tnx loads for the replies, sorry that i havent replied yet, but somehow i cant acces cgtalk on my home pc anymore :(
So i guess its not really possible to morph between different polygonal objects. I was just wondering though, like for instance in the hulk, how would they morph bruce banner into the hulk in the scene where talbot is in his house and u see banners face changing ?
Or when the hulk transforms back into banner like in the scene in when the hulk came back from the desert?

well, you can do 3d morphs... there's even a 3d morph track... and it's what happens if you use meshes with posemixer too... but the thing is the meshes have to have the same number of points and basically you ahve to manipulate one mesh into the form of the the other manually once, then you can animate the process.
but for the hulk... my guess is mostly post (i.e. 2d morphing and careful manipulation ofhte images).

Hi,
it's also based on two geometries with the same number of polygons and points. It's just a more sophisticated way to morph.
Cheers

ok...
thanks...its a cool result...though.
earlier on i did kinda hint at keeping polys same and then manupulating mesh.

can u explain how can i do this!! please!!
There is a good tutorial over at C4DPortal.com. I was trying to get there to link it for you, but for some reason the site is not available. I'll check again later to find you the direct link. Once you've seen it done, you'll realize how easy it is...
Sorry for the delay. Here's a direct link to the tutorial over at c4dportal. It's very basic, but once you do it, you'll understand much better what's happening. Then play with it a bit and you'll love it...

i got object A and is going to morhp to object B can i make the particles from A to B go align in a spline?? so i can design the trayectory! or the direction and make some particles move around
and not get them to go in stright line?
i dont now if i explain my self?
but thks! you cinema users are the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!
