None of the tutorials i see out there ever suggest using "BOOLIAN Pick operand B" i like to use it to union objects or cut parts of objects out of others ( well thats what it does i guess), why do no tutorials or sites ever suggest it, does it cause many problems?

Well, Booleans always cause problems topologically/geometrically. If you want to use them, it's fine, but you will need to do some cleanup if you want a quality mesh. Often you can get away without cleaning them up, but overall, it's best to use them infrequently as possible. Booleans are just a tool. If you are of the mindset of a boolean modeler(ie, CAD), you will have to change your thinking on the matter when it comes to 3D rendering.
