hi

i am interested in making videos like the one below.

my questions are:

1. is using Adobe After Effects the way to go to achive the effects being used in the video?
2. if so what types of effects or skills should i be focussing on and learning?

any feedback and direction is greatly apreciated.

That's just masking and some basic effects.

Videocopilot.net has a load of free "Introduction to After Effects" tutorials which should equip you with the tools you need to make music videos that hearken back to the 1990's ;)
