lots of sites out there say "works for v2, v3, v4" but will older plug ins work in max5? theres a couple good plugins i want but they say v4 and i have v5, what are the chances of them working anyway?

Most v4 plugins work in v5. A few don't.

None of the v3 plugins work in v5.

Daz, if you plan to buy a certain plug-in then the best thing to do is get into contact with the distributor or creator of the program before purchasing it. This will save a lot of headache in the long run in the remote chance a ver. 4 PI does not work in 5.

posm is correct: Any plug-in prior to version 4 will not work in max 5.x+

Yeh well in that case things are a bit different if i'm going to buy, i'm just looking at some of those free ones like Shag:Furr and a couple good looking renderers

hmm i thought shag:furr was free and shag hair you had to pay for, must of been a dodgey site i was at before, cant remember where it was so pirates dont ask
