hi again igor ( im hellfire on insidecg )

this is a real problem with max 4, its happend to me and the guys at work now about three times. Just lost everthing in the folder that i was saving my work too, its a pain..

anyway, at the moment theres no way round it, we posted on the descret forum and it was somthing thay sayed thay would fix, and it would also seem that it doesent mater what OS you are using ( we use win 2000)

the only thing i can recomend is that you copy a file to a new folder, just so if anything does go wrong you will always have a backup..

catch ya later

Another thing to do is to enable autosave.. it can be time and space consuming if you are working on big files but can also cause you to increase your life expectancy somewhat. Check the .mx files when you do cos it can mean a whole less pain than having to go back to what you had before it wiped out the folder you were using. You can also merge all your objects one by one into the a fresh scene to find the offending object(s) but that can take an age too. Also sometimes, if you are working with editable poly and it is corrupted, changing to editable mesh and back to editable poly can very occaissionally cure it but don't by any means rely on it. :)

I see, thanks a lot, i've seen that autosave stuff earlier, i'll try and configure it!
If i were to download the update for max 4, would that help at all?? I still haven't gotten to that...

thanks for the help!:applause:
