Hi all.
Please help.

I have 700 frames to render with mayas software renderer.
It'll do any where from 50 to a few hundred...then pause.
It just stops.

I'm going with the cell shaded look, which means everything has a two tone brightness toon shader, and a thick toon outline.
In the lower right corner of maya (where it gives the render progress) it commonly gets stuck on "post processing (which is adding the toon outlines).

Anyone have a clue on how to solve this?
I have a quad core and 8 gigs of RAM...
Each frame only take 3-4 seconds to render, so IDK why it keeps getting stuck.

Now it's doing as little as two frames before feezing/pausing...
Restarting Maya and my PC hasn't helped.

I have this problem too. This is why I can't sleep while rendering. You could try using something like RenderView Extension (http://www.creativecrash.com/maya/downloads/scripts-plugins/rendering/misc/c/renderview-extension) and render sequences directly from the render view to disk, but according to the author it's going to be slower than batch render. I hope someone with an actual solution comes along. In a month or so I'll have about ten thousand frames to render.

I'll see what I can do....
For now, I'm re-rendering the scene with without the toon lines to see if they're the cause of the freezes.

Well holy crap...
I just re rendered the scene FLAWLESSLY.
I guess it was the toon lines that caused it to lock up....

The end result doesn't look that bad either, so I might just stick with this look...
