the guy on the pictures is my first non-toon charakter to texture... well, how do I manage the hard edge where the texture parts (unwrap-screen) meet? I want to paint the skin in photoshop with lots of details, so do I really (!?!?!) have to watch out during paintig that the edges have the same pattern/colour whatever? A friend of mine told me about blend maps? How is this done in films, or anywhere else where the hard edges would "hit the eye"? deep paint 3d? :)

ahm, and sorry about the bad english!

Your English isn't bad at all.

First of all, over-paint. Paint a little bit beyond the UV edges in the bitmap, this will prevent the black from bleeding in and causing lines along the edges.

Second, here's a tutorial about fixing seams without using 3d paint.

Third, I would recommend 3d paint. It is the fastest way to fix seams. Just make sure the program has "projection paint" otherwise the brush size may change as you paint across seams, making fixes very difficult.

thanks a lot! for the tips, the link (and the statement that my english is not so bad) :)

the link is very good, but I think I have to learn some kind of 3d paint-program. seems to be faster than ps-painting.
