Hello,
Hoping you folks can help with a problem I am having. I have applied a shatter to an object and wish to control when the shatter takes effect.
I.e. object remains whole from frames 0 - 50, and then at frame 51 the shatter affect takes hold and the object breaks up into seperate peices.
Any help on this would be much appreciated.
thanks in advance.

key the visibility of the unshattered on at 1 and 50, off at 51. then key the visibility of the shards off at 50, and on at 51. Go into the graph editor and make these curves stepped.

Is that what you were looking for?

thanks for your response zachgrachan,
Sorry didn't quite give enough info on what i am trying to do.
I am basically trying to get a glass to fall of the edge of a table then onto the floor of the scene, and smash when it hits the floor.
Instead of keying all this I want to use dynamics, so I am using a gravity feild to drive the glass falling onto the the ground. Unfortunently this is doesn't allow for your suggestion to work , for the reason that the the shards of the object have already been moving for 50 frames, and if i key the visiblity of unshattered to shattered object, the shards have already moved quite a distance from the unshattered and isn;t really the result that i am looiking for.
So yeah I guess i am trying to find out a way of keying when the shatter effect takes hold on an object.
I am thinking that keying the center of mass too a centrel point is the work around for this, however saying that I am having no luck so far doing this.
Any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I don't think you can key when the shatter starts. You may be able to, I just don't know how.

As the Shards fall for 50 frames, they are still together yes? then they hit the floor and bounce around as rigid bodies? the only problem is the seams in the unshattered 50 frames?
