Hi, I am kinda new to Maya and this is my first time working with sub-d's. I am almost finished with my low-poly mesh character and will be converting to sub-d and using the low-poly mesh as a deform wrapper and for blendshapes (Ala Steve Stahlberg). Now the way I understand it, my workflow would go something like this;

1. Create Low-poly model
2. Unwrap low-poly model and create UV's.
3. Convert Low-poly model to Sub-d model.
4. Detail lower levels of Sub-D mesh.
5. Bind Sub-D mesh to rig.
6. Use Low-Poly as wrap deformer.
7. Create blendshapes from copies of the low-poly mesh.

My Questions:

1. Is this Right?

2. I create texture map UV's to apply to the sub-d mesh before I convert? How would I correctly texture the details I create at level 3 on the sub-d mesh then?

3. Whats the best way to attach hi-poly eyebrows/ eyelashes to the sub-d mesh?

Thanks for any help, advice or pointers!

you apply the wrap deformer and bind that to the rig. Otherwise there would be no advantage.

Thanks atzfratz! I have searched google and good sub-d info is rare. Evidently not many people have knowledge about this.

I am pretty sure that the uv map created with the low poly mesh will show the sub-d mesh on the texture template after converting. So then I will be able to pait the details I create on the sub-d correctly.

Now If I can find a good way to attach hi-polygon brows / lashes to the sub-d surface. Any ideas?
