"With our software, the 'causes' are what the user had in mind to draw, and the 'effects' are what was actually drawn," says Randall Davis, who has developed the code with Christine Alvarado at MIT's Artificial Intelligence Laboratory.

Once the computer has settled on an interpretation, it applies the laws of physics such as gravity and friction to set the virtual world in motion. Cars roll down hills, pendulums swing, and objects bang into each other"

Very interesting research for the future of CG indeed.
the potential power of such an idea is infinite. :scream:

Thats pretty cool work there and I hope they get it up and running so we could use it for a CG challenge. If it tries to interpret what it is that we are trying to create as we create it imagine trying to get it to screw up with some of the extremely bizarre, albeit, cool images we get here. Some of the guesses from the software could be hilarious and others very well could cause the poor program to blow up.
