The lines around the jaw and cheeks in the wireframe image, are they hair guides or part of the wirframe? I'm guessing their hair guides, right?
As far as armor is concerned, search the web for stores that sell armor. You'll be able to find some nice examples.

Nice work
The hair of the beard (not the beard itself, thats fine) seems a bit fluffy and insubstantial. How about thickening it up a bit

nice i love the crown btw but i think the eyes look too...... nice blue isnt a very evil colour (and no one make a reference to the nazis please we all know about the blue eyes) if you shifted it to a more ethirial kinda greyish colour it would work better i think as it stands it looks a bit like a battle mech armed with a pillow..... but nice and i think the beard looks better now (beard 2 but with grey in) too keep at it :D

I agree. Beard 2 with some grey in it, possibly a thin streak or two in the front in addition to those by the sideburns?
I think blue eyes are ok. To me he looks commanding rather than evil.

If you'd like to tell us a little more about this character, it may be easier to give you a bit more direction.... right now, I definately like the thicker beard, but think it may be a bit to much now, maybe a bit between, or add stuble to help it look more natural....now, this may be just my opinion, but I do think the crease between his nose and cheek bone is a bit to prominant to look very natural....I do like it, I would just relax it a little, unless he's going to have other more harsh features

wow, nice job man, what about gray eyes, he looks so evil
i repeat: nice job:eek:
ahh, beard 2 of course
I think the line from the nose to the mouth is extruded out to far. It does not look natural. I would say this is a good start, but it needs more detail. THe proportions look good, now add in those details. My .02 cents :)

character looked much better without the crown. honestly and most seriously.
also prefer the first iteration of beard styles.
the fold running from nose to corner of mouth is too gouged, make the crease sharper.
lovely model, lots of mood... dig the render style too.

That's a very nice mesh, I like it alot. In response to your question about armor, keep in mind that you needn't limit yourself to the metal variety for reference,...there is hockey armor, football armor. etc. I hope that helps.

Extremely nice. I like how the bear is pitch black. You need more facial hair between where the bear starts and the hair near the ears. Also some near the the bear starts close to the mouth and the nose. Just a bit. I prefer the long beard too.

Heh. A designer crown of thorns. Jesus would be miffed...
But seriously: Very nice model. He simply cries out for some wrinkles, though. In order to give him more authority I think you should make him a little bit older. Some wrinkles in the texture would do fine.
As for armor references: try any of the online companies that make real steel suits of armor. I used to have a lot of such links but lost them... :-(

I not sure that insubstantiallity is the problem with the beard. My opinion is that it appears too soft and fluffy. If you could some how make the individual hairs look thicker/more wirey and trim it like you did with beard 1 but not so that all the hairs are chopped like a bob. most men I've seen with beards go for an over all shape not the appearance of all one length.
I'm just giving some asthetic advice, unfortunatley I cannot tell you how to do it with the program.
