I'm working on this model for almost a week now...and I am wondering if you have some C&C, before I start mapping it:D

Software used: 3dmax 5, shag hair, Vray renderer

Oh yes,very cool stuff.
Would like to see some evilish eyes in this chap.
Very cool!

That looks really cool!

I think the mouth needs some work, its a bit wide and the line from the nose to the mouth is a bit to deep. There is a small indent in the back of the head, but that isn't something to worry about to much.

How is your site coming along?

Straight on view would be sweet, the only thing i don't like is the fact that his beard is messy, i always see elves as being clean and effecient you know! otherwise pretty awesome.

he looks like a meninite with that bead ;) rad on!, the crown doesn't seem to have the same realism style as the face though...

Wow looks great, excellent modeling.

To tell the truth though I don't think he looks much like a elf. More like a half-orc or something more barbaric, 'specially with the beard he has on now, looks like something they would wear in the mongol horde.

nice work do you have any concept sketches? few crits the grove on the side of his nose doesnt look quite right and his lips are a lil flat.

What are you using to create his hair?:surprised

nice , i would pull out some of the features a bit, make him look more dominating, now he doest look much like a night elf, but the modeling is nice and clean:) and maybe make the beard braide if u can, is there a story behind this guy, why is he a lord and stuff:p

dude your character just went blind.

that lighting is a bit extreme imo , you should tune it down a bit so we can see the model.

Well, quite a few people have replied now, and yet you completely ignored their crits

I kinda have to agree with what has been said regarding his elf likeness - even the night elves are not quite as brutish.

You also really need to fix the lighting - it's too bright and is causing bad oversaturation on your surface which also obscures the detail.

The crown looks interesting but right now you are loosing all the detail in it because of the bad lighting, so I think that the first thing you need to fix before rendering any more images is your lighting setup.

You have quite a lot of noise in your renders that you need to eliminate as the graininess detracts from the quality.

I also think the first beard was the best, although it was a little sharp - it needs to be a lot coarser. Don't night elves also have really long eyebrows?

At any rate, it's a decent enough start, but needs a fair amount of tweaking and attention. Especially in areas like the indent from the nostril to the mouth - it's too sharp.

Thanks for your comments, I will work on the light setup and I also think I ga for beard 2,

Maybe the name night elf is wrong for this character...Nobody has seen a nightelf before and everybody refers to the disciption Tolien made in his books (No offence, I like Tolkien too) but this is my own interpertation of how I night elf looks like....

I know I must work on the mouth a bit longer before I go to map it....Unfortunatly for some of you guys I keep the eyes the way they are.

and leigh I don't ignore any crits...I read them and I use them as much as possible...but I want to use my artistic freedom to make a night elf look the way I want too:beer:, of course Tolkien has some beautiful disciptions about the elves and I like them a lot as he describes them..but I don't want to make another tolkien elf ;)

can somebody explain me some more about HDRI maybe I can use that.

greetings and thanks for our posts

Edouard

all c&c are still welcome

every one has they preferances, and things but then again if you do work in the industry you have to get model ripped apsrt all the time, soi gues to make a character everyone well like you have to throw in a little of what everyone well like, you do have a nice model, there, just in my opion it looks like anordanary man with sharp ears, dont get me wrong thats just me, and yes every one has there different views on how things should look, and u cant please everyone, its just everyone likes to see things the way they want it done, bt oh well

PS i notice u asked for C&C not sugestions, so u are happy with the design , and just what crits on how to make the modeling and things u have better  ;)

Thanks, Of course are suggestions welcome, but it's mine choise what I will do with them, if some of them give me inspiration then I will use it.

C&C about the model are welcome and I get some useful information out of it:)

and yes I'm quite happy whit the design:p

I thought elves from literature weren't supposed to have any facial hair, ie beards... very nice work btw
