KennyLiu 09-14-2003, 06:41 PM Hi all,
This is my current work. I have been working on this 29 days. It has been finished 90 percent. Comments are welcome.
By the way, I'm sorry for the small and poor qulity image due to the 20kb limitation. I have no idea how to post high qulity image although I've checked the FAQ. Can any one tell me how you guys can post high quality and big size images here?
Thanks in advance.

looks very good
people upload images somewhere else and link them rather than attaching them, you usually get some free space with your isp

Well this is really good. I haven't seen this bike in real world but i think there is somethink bad about that tires and you should add sole poly's to mirrors. And a little queastion -which software do you use?

Thanks for your feedback. I knew the tires were bit odd. I'm going to remodel them later. Sorry, I forgot to mention. I use 3ds Max.
The mirrors are sole poly. I'm afraid you can't see them from the poor quality and small size image.
Here's the front view.

You must have a pretty powerful PC, mine would've blown a long time ago.:p

Man you must post it in a website so WE CAN SEE BIGGER IMAGES
Take a look at the post in the begiining of the thread listing FREE WEBHOSTING SOLUTIONS, I got my web from there 250free.com is quite cool you have 250 mb of total space and a maximum of 2 mb per file, you gotta try that one, you can´t keep us from seeing that awesome model.

Thank you very much for you guys' comments.
About the tires, I modeled them (tread) by piece, then an inner tire, but them don't look well to me too. So I'm going to re-model them later.
Ozzman, I think the render were not quite ugly (ever original render's size was 1280X960), but they looked ugly after beening scaled down and compressed
I have my "own" website, but I know nothing about Html or any code to paste images here. I wonder is it legal to write down the specific URL here which links to the exact image? I mean my post won't be deleted?
Thanks in advance for the reply.

Ok, here's a example. The following URL is one of my work -- Ducati 998.

I wonder whether this is legal to post a image here that won't be deleted.

Thank you very much for your information, Kiko3d. I’m going to check out that web site now. And sorry for the poor quality images (don’t blame me, that not my fault ;-)).
Nastacc, I’ve been working on this model for 33 days, more than 120 hrs.
The final render is my headache. Recently, I’m suffering Max’s crashing problem during the rendering. Once the scene or model has been fully textured, Max will crash while I’m using Radiosity or GI (even I use standard lights, it still crashes). I’ve reinstalled the program several times, but the problem still there (I know I’m not lonely. I’ve read a lot of threads about complaining such issue). I wish Max 6 won’t have crashing problem.
Wish me luck, let me finish my final render, lol.

I saw your textured model -it is very good but if you want it to be best you have to wark a bit more:shrug:

Thanks Ozzman. I'll working hard on it
awesome work m8.. nice details.. i finished my Suzuki B-King model.. i'm little disappointed of low count of polygons on some places as like as mirrors.. (fyi: i used NURBS for modeling .. btw: what do you think? : http://www.furo.sk/cv/suzuki10.jpg ) .. but.. i must say again: really awesome work..

yeah.. i like KennyLiu's bike too.. really. so much.. and i'm so curious to final render.. and i hope Kenny, that you're going to re-model your lowpoly mirrors.. cause if you'll do this,it'll be the best detailed bike model i've ever seen.. so.. good luck

Hey man, your bike look awesome too!!
Well, I don't use Nurbs for the mirror cuz my poly count gose to 228,437 now. My program crashes from time to time while I model/add detail to it.
I did some refinement to the mirror. The following URL is 1024 size image. The mirror looks better than before, but still not very smooth. If my pc can handle it (1GM memory), I will remodel the mirror later.
Let me know what do you think the new mirror :)

Thanks for your kind comment. Here's the "big" size of my remodeled rear tire, and I hope you can see it clear here (sorry for the poor quality preceding images).
I know it still need some work on tread. Any suggestion?

2 ozzman: check images section on google;).. to compare;).. 2:Kenny: yeah, looks much better.. i admire, that you can do this with polymodeling.. NURBS are easier to do this IMHO;).. and, i know, your final model will be AWESOME.. (modeling part is already fantastic at this time, you know;).. good luck m8..

Furo: I mean use half of real bike + half of rendered bike in one picure. That can be interesting can't that?

Awsome detail on the whole thing. Things are going great. I did find one thing I thought I should point out. This is not very major at all, and probably not very noticable, but there is something weird going on on the top of the wind sheild.

Tire update again, and some details added. I have some trouble with the metal. Any suggestion to make them look real?http://sv2.3dbuzz.com/vbforum/attachment.php?s=&postid=390956
To Ozzman, I failed to paste the image here. I did what you said, but... What should I do?
hm,your metal matieral doesn't look real.. which software you're using?.. i can send you metal material,if you're using max for rendering..or shader for maya.. and.. notice 'michelin' on tire is extruded so much IMHO.. for the small lettering.. i like your update for all that.. keep workin';)..
btw: why your image doesn't load ?.. the link must be between [IMG] tags.. and.. your first tag missing,as you can see.. that's the problem.. ;)..

Thank you Furo:) . I use max 5, and I'm not good at texture since I dedicate most of my time to modeling. I do need some help on texture. Here's my mail address: kennyliu2003@yahoo.com. Many thanks in advance.
About the text, I just typed them with Max's text, and they looked awkward. I think I gotta replaced them.
Also, I read the "Help" about pasting the imge here and tried it, but just not work for me, like this"
http://sv2.3dbuzz.com/vbforum/attachment.php?s=&postid=390956
so i don't understand about your pasting text problem.. maybe it's something wrong with your HTML settings in profile.. who knows, try to take a look there..
and about materials.. i'm using Rhino and Maya.. but for a long time before i used Max,so i know,i've got some materials saved.. so,i'll send you metal material and something another, what should help you?... let me know.. and, fyi: i love modeling much much more as like as rendering, texturing, compositions and so;).. btw: my last project finished,so if you've got a few seconds, take a look and write, what do you think about it: http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=90223

I've a question. Does any one know how to correct the problem showed in the image: the background environment reflected up side down in the mirror?
Thanks in advancehttp://sv2.3dbuzz.com/vbforum/attachment.php?s=&postid=391602

I am not sure. But if it is only a map (in the reflection) try to rotate map (in the map parametres). Maybe i can help you
KennyLiu
09-26-2003, 03:14 AM
I set the mirror map at diffuse, and reflection map at reflect slot. If the environment is built up in the scene, everything is fine. But if use map, the reflection in the mirror is odd.
