(http://assets.cgsociety.org/nvart/421876_1273844113/1024bound)Allows for four modes of travel - on land, sea, air and in space.
It even transforms to the length of a Mercedes Smart Car for parking in town!
The design has retractable aero/hydrofoils, paddles within each tyre for underwater work and interchangeable rear propellers for use in air and below water. Owners enter/exit the vehicle from the side doors or through the front when the vehicle is contracted.
It took me a while to evolve the moving surfaces & mechanics of the design, but it was a challenge that I really enjoyed.
I used Maya and After Effects to develop the functionality. I got the main components moving and then started experimenting. I am pleased with the result as I think it is aesthetically pleasing whilst being functional.
I have another concept in mind that moves this design on further…watch this space.
