View Full Version : Sun eruptions movement type
VTeixeira 05-13-2010, 11:40 PM Hello everyone,
I'm trying to create something similar to the eruptions of the sun.
Not the eruptions exactly, it's mostly a movement type - around an circular object like an aura with that eruptions and movement.
I've been trying to do it with FumeFx but I can't stable the fluid. So I thought that with particle flow and krakatoa I could get some nice results.
I'm feeling kinda lost in terms of operators. What process should I follow?
Hope someone can point me in some direction or tutorial.
Thanks

If thats not what you're looking for play around in PFlow rotating the emitter as it sprays particles out, that was the setup I saw at Prime Focus like the pic in the link below. They used PFlow & Krak so it must work fine.

Good luck.

Really appreciate Stevie.
This is the image I had in mind, take a look:

Think "Ink" :) Same basic premise, very little/no gravity or buoyancy
Check Deko's clip, awesome piece ;)

Awesome clip.
I think If I'm not wrong it's a mixture between Fume, PFlow & Krakatoa.
I'll do what what you say.
I'll post some tests soon.

That is exactly what it is, good eye :)
The basics of it:
Run your fume simulation (include channels you want to use like velocity/temp/fluid mapping)
Create a new Pflow (or Thinking Particles) and pipe your fume simulation into it via the FumeFX Birth & Follow operators.
Save out to PRT or render pflow directly

I'm messing around with Magma Flow.
Great tool krakatoa.
This is the original image of the storyboard in a project that I'm doing.
I have to do exactly this what do you think?
This movement around the object is killing my head lol
I think that in the end the collaboration between Krakatoa, Fume & PFlow is the answer, and I've already study the help tutorials of krakatoa but this movement sun type is giving me some problems.

Vitor, I think you have you're work cut out for you :)
Try starting out by mapping a sphere with a noise map, with nice separation lots of black with a few medium sized white spots, use that map in your Fume Source smoke channel (set to intensity, and give your smoke value something like 10+ so it creates a good stream), maybe animate the source object velocity (at the bottom of the ffx source rollout). Just an idea.

I've finally made it.
Check it out.
Thanks for the comments.

Nice looks good, a little voxelization going on but not bad, an easy fix

I've noticed that.
It happened in this fire simulation I did too:

How can I control this?
