Hi!

I've posted this model at spiraloid, but the feedback is not a strong side of that forum.

This is my first character and first serious model. About 4 months of work. Software: 3ds max 4.0

The model is in wip condition - have to detail and to correct some muscles and edge loops, but the overall look is reached.

All crits are welcome!

I think he looks great! :applause:

It would be cool if you could give him really ugly teeth... Right now, he could do advertisement for tooth-paste! :D

Peace,
Phreek

I really like the muscle structure on this character. Just wondering why men never really finish the genital area? it was the same in my scupture class :) just joking :)

what program and technique did you use to model it? do you have a wirefrare version?

Thanx for your support. :)

Freak, at this moment i want to complete the body, then return to the head. It has a lot of incompletenesses, like flat ears and Hollywood teeth :hmm:

daniella3d, i'm using Max 4.0 with subdivision methods

and here is the wire

Looks nice Fossor! I like the muscle definition. Detailing is great!

Daniella3D asked...Just wondering why men never really finish the genital area?I think it all boils down to, most gentlemen aren't comfortable with the subject matter. While I am no prude, I believe it would be in very poor taste to create an open detailed model of a female genital and post it to this board. I also believe it would be in poor taste to model and display male genitals, if the character that the artist is working toward doesn't require that level of completeness.

In art class I'm sure the question most guys ask as they come to the genitals is... "Why is this necessary?"... and in reality 99.99% of the time it's completely unnecessary!

Besides, Kids surf here! :)

Speaking of modeling genitals, did anyone see that article on Golum in Cinefx a couple months ago? I went blind for an hour after seeing that photo of their naked maquette. They must be getting paid by the hour because a whole lot of work went into that crotch. I don't think we need genitals on here either.

As for your Goblin, I would love to see him in some poses. You've successfully tackled the major anatomical issues, but its always hard to judge a model's weight and mass when in their modeling phase. Hope you stick with him.

Hey!

Some update.
Actually this is my attempt to rigging. Now it's only the mouth area.
The rig is bone driven and made in max 4.2

Btw, i've changed head mesh before rigging.

zzacmann: lol

Fossor: Cant tell by the rigging render if this has since been solved, but there appeared to be a seam running down the nose/philtrum/lips in the image in your first post.

Aside from that, fantastic model!

Keep up the great work! And I think he's effective without a twig and berries.

Hi Fossor, looks great - nice consistent detail level and an interesting guy - that's most important. Still very symmetrical, so I assume your not that far with it yet. I think there is something very cg about it (aside from the shading ;-) but couldn't locate it at first because you have really nice musculature and folds etc.

Now I think its at between-points like where the cheek bone runs into the ear: there's a dell there that interrupts the impression of skin over bone. Again on the foot, looks like the form is slightly off.

Anatomically, those upper spine / neck vertebrae look a bit numerous and jagged for the rest of the model. And the calves are off.

But that's nitpicking! Look forward to seeing him move!

Hi!
Another Update (http://members.fortunecity.com/fossor/goblinfacialexp.html) This time eye area setup added and eye textures.

Dobermunk, thanx for those remarks.

I kinda like those ears. Very detailed. And I agree that it may be nice to make the teeth a bit more, you know, gnashy.

Other than that, it seems pretty good. Always, more details, poses, etc, but other than that, :).

Also, it seems your wireframe graphics are inaccessible.

Thanx everyone! :)
I'll change his teeth.
And sorry for dead links, i fixed them, except of wireframe (in either event it is not updated), those guys from gecities temporary closed them because of high data transfer :)
