View Full Version : Memory Issues Using Lock and Bond

Hello

I was wondering if anyone has had this issue while using lock and bond in max 2009 running all the hot fixes and creative extension in win xp. What is happening is that, everytime I play the scene the memory use goes up and up till the scene crashes, however when i dont use the lock and bond when the time line goes back to zero the memory goes back to the amount it was before playing the animation. hope that makes sense.
Any ideas would be helpful. thanks.

How high is the poly count on your lock and bond object?

The count is 2111 polys 1050 verts, would that make a difference?

That is pretty low, does sound like it should kill it. Is it an animated shape?

yes both the emitter object and the lock and bond object are animated, but not deforming. After your first post I tried reducing the polycount of the lock bond object to 500 and it seemed to work but after a while the memory use shot up, if used the hires(2000 poly) version and switched to the low res the memory use still stays high, however if i shut down max and reopen it and use the low poly the memory use is normal. one of my team was having a similar issue in the last project.

I see you asked over at Orbaz, that would be the place to get a definitive answer :)

Out of curiosity how many particles are you bonding? and are bonds breakable?

hi yeah :) had to try orbaz, I am just using about 300 particles, eventually i will have to use more so i hope i can figure out before then.
