Very nice Mr Denton I think it should have man brests and secrete some sort of haluceogenic juice that strange creatures feed off.

 Thats pretty cool!! It's kinda weird how it almost looks like it's laughing and beckoning you with it's roots to "come closer hehehehehe come closer little children I have something for you..." :surprised....
*cough*
Anyway, I think Equinoxx's suggestion is very cool! You should try that :)

Hey cool. So far it looks like the boogie man in Nightmare Before Christmas! ;)
Keep on going tho, it can't look like it when you'll be done with it.

Small, small update. Anyone got any ideas for atmosphere?? as i have no idea wot to do with it. Also not sure wether this charcter is strong enough to be the main focus of the image, and if i need a second one, say a creature about to **** on the tree's breast!??

How about a swampy green atmosphere?
Donno, but somehow i think that would kick! :)
lots of twisted and weird old trees in the background with greenish fog and stuff..ah well
your doing good stuff..

This is my first attempt at grass, not that good, i used shag fur, but didnt really like it,
http://207.164.141.121:82/images/cgtalk1.gif
So now i have used actual geometry, the trees in the background are just place holders and i still havnt finished the main tree, im gonna have it holding a small creature with its branch like hand,

i use shagfur for grass. i find it useful. and fast.
you just have to tweak it, every parameter.
it's best if you use compound materials to seperate the base color, tip color, density, length, etc maps
to have a natural random effect.
and use the shagvector

yeah im sure its good, but i have no clue how to use it and too lazy to get taught, plus i dont have access to it at home and i would have to composite into my gi render.
Any crit on my image so far?

Hey there Bluemilk,
That's some nice work mate,
I agree with Mick, reckon you could throw a couple of mushrooms in there to add a little colour maybe ;) Like the grass, but you could chuck in a couple of rim lights to bring out all that loverly modelling.
Any plans on texturing ?
Joe
