Hi there! and first of all thanks for dropping by my thread :) Im really looking forward to this new area, of this already great forum...

Well atm, im trying to improve my skills in realistic modelling/shading... So the goal with this character is primarily to go as realistic as possible within my area of skill :) What i need you guys to do, is give me some serious critique on my skin shader, witch i've been fumbleling with for a couple of weeks now...

And the maps :)

Diffuse:

Subdermal:

Bump:

The focus is basically the skin shader... but feel free to comment on the model/light etc. just fire away :)

And just to give you a better idea of the overall model..

I am not sure that subdermal map should be that light because under skin flesh and veins are mostly red.
I don't know how that vray shader works but i think that you have to add more diffuse and less scattering.

Thx alot for the reply :)

Well according to the vray shader, im not that advanced in it... But as opposed to the mr skin shader, i feel that vray sss2 is much more sensitive to the actual color that are put into the map.. So if i make the map too dark it tend to blow out the color way to high :D

But you suggestion would be to take some of the scattering out, and bring in more diffuse ?

I belive the diffuse map is an almost gray texture (+ makeup).
Since its the actual skin layer it has very little color in itself.

But the epidermal map on the other hand should be more the "skin color" that is redish, pinkish, yellowish etc.

Also I think your facial color is too even, the face has a lot of different tones going around, it is by all means not an even color but it varies from place to place on the human body and also internally in the face.

Is there a reason she only has makeup around her eyes?
