Good morning from Boston, and I am back with a new character, just taking a break from my current project, so i can focus on bettering my skills in modelling. For this one, I wanted to practise a bit of human anatomy and get myself familiarised with the detail and processes. And i read Scott Spencer's Zbrush book (which is a great read). For this character, I was watching the trailer for Warhammer: Day of Reckoning, and I got so inspired that I decided to create a character among that realm. Well, try to...

The origins of karrennen started from a series of stories that i wrote as a kid, and for years, i wrote him as a character who was hell bent on destroying humanity, and taking all of the power for himself. His place of creation is in Hell.

I started it off in zbrush using zspheres and a few sketches that i did...I must say, I enjoy this.

Here is where I am now on the sculpt, still trying to finesse the body a bit more. And he will be aimed toward a game centric character. I just hope i can pull off all of the detail... Sorry for the large images, captured from Zbrush:

Good morning from the East Coast, and I am back with some new updates on my model... just trying to get it all done, working off an on. Still trying to get the look for this model and add the scariness to this man. I just added the hanging armour that will protect his groin, although I know this model will exceed the 10,000+ triangle mark...there is still room for optimisation when I get there... i

in the meantime here are some shots of him. I still need to fix the anatomy and some detail issues like wrinkles and straps for the armour components. Enjoy and stay tuned...

Hey everyone, just posting some updates on my model...trying to finish it up... I need to do a few more tweaks to make it sing... I feel the hands don't look natural...and i still need to add detail to the face :). C&C is welcome..

Hey everyone, what's up? I am back with a new update on Karrennen (had to take time away to get the juices going again. And now using a new HD monitor). I had to redesign the hanging apron to something much lighter and reasonable for him to move around in. Still needs some cleanup and thinking of changing the armour from red/yellow to black/gold.

Thoughts? More to come...

Thanks a lot Psi... been struggling to get this done, but I have the game res version set up for texturing... I just realised the value of concept art... stay tuned more to come...

Hey everyone, what's up? Haven't really been doing my modeling but here is an update on this character as i finally start tweaking the textures...at this stage, I kind of feel like the textures are not dirty enough and I may forego the gold banding on the armour and just using the bandings as specular spots.

I hate the boots, they look so plain jane so i will go back and make them sing... as you can tell i am getting bored with this one, so I may set him aside for a while and comeback to it...

feel free to leave any thoughts.

Good morning from boston, and I am back with an update and the drive to finish this guy up... just posting some renders with better textures and a meaner appearance...used ZB4 to do the painting... still a lot of work to do... I need to do the cloth part of the armour and dirty the model up...

what do you think

I've had no idea how powerful Unreal Engine is, but i love the workflow for texturing my models. Here is a quick render from the engine, trying to tweak specular mapping suited for real time... there is more work to do, but i am glad that I can utilise the engine... C&C is always welcome, stay tuned.
