View Full Version : Scripts to export from After Effects and import to 3DSMax

Hi guys,
we are looking for someone or two separate people who could implement scripts for exporting elements from AE and another script for importing them into Max. We are distributing drawn layers in 3D in AE and doing the overall camera drive design there but we need to export the final scene file from Max and would like to minimize the need for doing things twice.
We tried Max2AE- plugin, but it does not do a very good job.

Is there anybody here who could write an exporter for AE and an importer for Max? If so, please send us your bid for doing the task at teemu@virtualairguitar.com (http://forums.cgsociety.org/teemu@virtualairguitar.com) even if its only one of these scripts (either Max inport or the AE export).

Below more specific requirements for the script.
Description

We need the following Adobe After Effects -export script

In short:
Script to export / write AE composition with 3d-camera and it's animation and other composition element's animation into text file

Core features that should be exported (+ = a must):
FOV (for Camera)
FOV-animation

+Full 3d-transformation - position, rotation and scale
+Animation tracks for these

Opacity
Animation track

+Element dimensions and / or size
+Size and dimensions (neutral size) is either first frame size or based onoriginal bitmap size

+Element Anchor Point / pivot position

+Naming and tagging of each element
+Each element must have proper name based on After Effects elements

+Formatting
+Easy to read formatting in text file, line breaks, tabs. Must be easy to read / visually clear


3DS Max MAXScript import script (See previously mentioned After Effects export script)
In short:
Creates a new animated scene from text formatted camera and element data exported from After Effects
Keyframe, position and other data should be in 3ds Max readable format and/or in XML format.

Core-features:
Script will create a camera and it's keyframe animation
Script will create all elements as plane objects with correct size and dimensions and transformations
Script will create transformation animation for each element
Script will create a material and assign correct texturemap to each plane based on element's name
Script will create material opacity track animation for elements which have animation in it

UI:
MAXScript Import Script or Floating Rollout(preferred) interface or Utility Panel interface

We are in a bit of a hurry with this. Please also contact me if you can do one of these scripts instead of both.

It seems that those scripts do not accomplish most of what we would need (the requirement list).
