View Full Version : Enchanted Forest-Characters-Jac-T
This is my first attempt at the WIP Challenge. I hope six weeks is enough time! :scream: Since I'm new I appreciate any and all feedback. Currently all I've posted is a sketch done in Photoshop that will be the idea behind the scene I will create in Lightwave. I hope you guys like it.... give me your  or :thumbsdow

OK, let's try this again, not sure why my pic didn't load up....
 and again:thumbsup:
Just thought I'd give a small description of the image (it's not exactly 100% clear I know... sorry  ) The idea behind the image is a sprite (or ferry, whatever :p) which has magical fireflies flying right above her cupped hands. She's sitting in a tree in the middle of the forest, but the surrounding trees have been pulled back by a Giant who in a way is holding her in his sight.

Goregous drawing. I love it
Thanks for your overly kind replies :) When I get home from my day-job I'll try to get up the model of the center tree.... Until then, more comments PLEASE! :)
Sorry I've not been able to update my WIP.... I've had to work all weekend.... :annoyed: I'm hopefully gonna get some time off (due to having to work this weekend.... ) so I'll try to put up an update in the next day or so..... Thanks for being patient.

Hey Jac :)
Yeah, as everyone has already mentioned, that's a great sketch
Hopefully you will have time soon for an update (don't worry, I know how you feel - when I get home from working with 3d all day, the last thing I want to do, even if I have the time, is to switch on my computer and carry on working. I'm usually just too tired)...
But hoping to see something new in the next day or two! :bounce:
Sorry guys, I just got home from work  I felt guilty though about not putting anything up yet so here is my "quick and dirty" tree trunk.... nothing spectacular, just to relieve my conciousness :D As I'm sure you can tell, I decided to make the trunk more of a twisted wreck than a more pristine smooth trunk... let me know what you think....
Sorry guys it's been so long.... I've been going :insane: here at work. I've been working 14+hrs/day for the past 2 weeks, but I think it's finally gonna lighten up for me to be able to work on the Challenge a bit more. Hopefully I'll be able to post somthing new each day for the next few days while I give myself a well deserved break.:airguitar :airguitar :airguitar Anyway, thanks for being patient with me. I've re-done the main trunk of my main twisted tree (it's actually more than a lame twist/taper of a template poly cage) Let me know what you think.... the tree should be finished in a day or so.

I like the twisted tree idea, but the way you have it now it looks like it gets fatter than the base in the tight bends. I'd go in and tweak the cage or adjust some CVs to get the fatness out of the bends. Other than that it's a great start.
ZR0-1, thanks for the reply, I'll take a look at that, it's really a perspective thing, but I definately agree it needs to be fixed. It does kinda look odd now that I look at it.
