Hi to all of you guys, here's the deal:
I'm kinda new to 3D modeling, I know much of theory, just need a little bit more of practice :)
I started learning Cinema 4D and everything was crystal clear, and I couldn't wait until I could begin to work wit splines (because precise engineering is what I do most) only to find out that Cinema 4D CAN NOT WORK WITH THREE DIMENSIONAL SPLINES! I don't know how to explain (if you already haven't realized what am I talking about), but I mean - I can't make spline mesh, or a nod that extends its arms in more than two directions... Sweep & Loft NURBS don't work for me because you can't control it's parameters like you can with additional spline...

The main question is: Do I have any alternative in terms of software choice before I dig deeper into Cinema 4D? And don't forget - I'm using MAC!

Thanks a LOT!
:)

What is a "three dimensional spline" in your opinion? What parameters do you want to control with an additional spline? What do you mean by "additional spline"?

With Cinema 4D I can create rectangle out of splines (four of them) - but I cannot create a CUBE, or a mesh for it if you like. (In that case one nod would have three splines coming out of them)...

By "nod" I assume you mean "knot"? Took me a while to figure this out...

To my knowledge it is not possible to permanently connect a spline to a knot of another spline apart from the start and end points in any program.

What is it exactly what you are trying to do but can't? In what case would a "three dimensional spline" be needed?

Splines don't branch...not ever...in no application. If you want to create a cube from splines, you can do so, but you will have additional vertices at the corners. But thats not a problem...AFAIK all apps using splines will combine these multiple vertices when it is converted in a poly-object or similar.
